How a Big Ben Photoshoot Works
Book early, meet near Westminster, and let the photographer find the angles.
Book an Early Slot
Westminster is busiest from mid-morning. The first sessions of the day give you the bridge and the square with far fewer people in the frame.
Meet Near Westminster
Your photographer meets you close to the location you chose and walks you between the spots: the bridge, the square, the phone box and the river.
Relax Into It
No modelling experience is needed. The photographer guides you through natural poses and catches the candid moments in between.

The Guide
Where to Stand, When to Go, Which Shoot to Book
The best Big Ben angles are a few minutes' walk apart, and the light and the crowds decide which ones work.
For photos of you with Big Ben, book the Big Ben photoshoot. A photographer meets you near Westminster and spends up to an hour walking you between the classic angles, guiding your poses and catching the unposed moments, and you get 35 to 40 edited photos with Big Ben, the London Eye and the red phone box as the backdrop. It costs from US$94 a person (checked October 2026) and is rated 4.9 out of 5 from 81 reviews, the most reviewed shoot dedicated to Big Ben on GetYourGuide, with four new reviews between 4 and 22 October alone.

The listing says it suits solo travellers, couples, families and special occasions, and recent reviewers single out how quickly their photographer put them at ease. No modelling experience is needed.

The four Big Ben shots
Big Ben is one bell; the tower that everyone photographs is the Elizabeth Tower, at the north end of the Houses of Parliament. The well-known angles are all within about ten minutes’ walk:
- Westminster Bridge. The south end of the bridge, looking back across the river, gives you the tower and the whole of Parliament along the water. It is the widest shot, and the busiest spot.
- The red phone box. A pair of phone boxes on Great George Street, on the corner of Parliament Square, line up with the tower behind them. This is the most asked-for photo in London, and there is often a queue for it.
- Parliament Square. The open square gives you the tower from below, with the trees and Westminster Abbey on the other side.
- The South Bank. From the river path opposite, by the London Eye, the tower and Parliament sit across the water, which is the best place for evening light.
A good photographer moves you through these in the order the light and the crowds allow, which is half of what you are paying for.
Go early
Westminster is one of the most visited places in London, and from mid-morning the bridge and the phone box are crowded. One Westminster listing runs its sessions before 10am for exactly that reason. If you can only do one early start on your trip, make it this one. The best time guide has sunrise times for every month.
Which Westminster shoot to book
Book whichever fits your morning:
Big Ben Photoshoot
35 to 40 edited photos around Westminster: the bridge, the square, the London Eye and the phone box.
Check dates →Private Photo Session in Westminster
A morning walk before 10am past Big Ben, the Abbey and the phone boxes, with all the original photos as JPGs.
See the morning session →Westminster and Tower Bridge Combo
About 25 photos at Westminster, then the Tube to Tower Bridge for 15 more.
See the combo →Prices and review counts as listed on GetYourGuide in October 2026, not a quote: some shoots are priced per person and some per group, and the price changes with the package you pick.
The morning session’s photo count depends on your group: 5 edited photos for one person, 10 for two and 15 for three or more, plus all the originals. The Big Ben and London Eye photoshoot is newer, with 12 edited photos for up to six people. And the Iconic Sights photo walk starts at Trafalgar Square and goes by St James’s Park and The Mall to the river, from US$66 a person , rated 5.0 from 20 reviews.
Inside Big Ben
You can also climb the tower itself, but not on a photoshoot. UK Parliament runs guided tours up the 334 steps of the Elizabeth Tower to the belfry, for visitors aged 11 and over; tickets are released monthly on UK Parliament’s ticket site and tend to go quickly. There is no step-free access. The tower was silent for repairs from August 2017 and the bell has been striking regularly again since November 2022.

Big Ben Photoshoot FAQ
What people ask before booking a photographer at Big Ben.
From the south end of Westminster Bridge, beside the red phone boxes on Great George Street, in Parliament Square, or across the river on the South Bank. The bridge gives the widest view of the tower and Parliament, the phone box is the most famous shot, and the South Bank is best in the evening. A photographer on the Big Ben photoshoot moves you between them.
From US$94 a person for the Big Ben photoshoot with 35 to 40 edited photos (GetYourGuide, October 2026). A private morning session in Westminster is US$161 a person, and the newer Big Ben and London Eye shoot is US$161 for a group of up to six with 12 photos. The cheapest London shoot that includes Westminster is about US$40 a person for 10 photos.
Early morning. Westminster is crowded from mid-morning, and one Westminster listing books its sessions before 10am for that reason. Sunrise ranges from about 04:40 in June to 08:00 in December. Evening light from the South Bank is the other good window.
Big Ben is the name of the great bell, not the tower. The most common explanation is that it was named after Sir Benjamin Hall, who oversaw its installation in the 1850s; another story credits a heavyweight boxer of the day, Benjamin Caunt. The tower that holds it has been called the Elizabeth Tower since 2012.
Because of repairs. The bell stopped its regular chimes in August 2017 so that the Elizabeth Tower could be restored, and it went back to striking regularly in November 2022, apart from special occasions in between. The scaffolding has gone, so the tower is fully visible in photos again.
If you can get a ticket and manage the stairs, many visitors think so. UK Parliament runs guided tours up 334 steps to the belfry, where you stand beside the bell as it strikes. Visitors must be 11 or over, there is no step-free access, and tickets are released monthly on UK Parliament's ticket site. A photoshoot happens outside, so it does not include the climb.
Yes, on UK Parliament's own Big Ben tours, which overseas visitors can now book too; for years they were open only to UK residents through their MP. Check the current rules and dates on UK Parliament's ticket site, because tours can be cancelled at short notice when Parliament needs the building.
35 to 40 edited photos on the Big Ben photoshoot. The private Westminster morning session gives 5 edited photos for one person, 10 for two and 15 for three or more, plus all the originals as JPGs. The Big Ben and London Eye shoot includes 12.
Yes: the Westminster and Tower Bridge combo covers both in three hours. You get about 25 photos at Big Ben, the London Eye and the phone boxes, then take the Tube to Tower Bridge for 15 more. It costs US$281 for up to six people, and you pay your own Tube fare.
Yes. The pair on Great George Street, at the corner of Parliament Square, are real red telephone kiosks, and they line up with the tower behind them, which is why they are the most photographed in London. Expect a short queue for the shot at busy times.
